Ray was born at Barunga in 1966.
When he was 5 years old his father took him to Manyallaluk to live. When Ray was 10 years old his grandfather started teaching him how to paint. Ray paints his grandfather’s and his own dreaming.
The ‘open’ or available to the public stories that Ray paints depict the abundant wildlife that exists in the Manyallaluk area.
The style of painting Ray uses is the Arnhem Land style using Rarrk or crosshatching that Ray calls “Lidichu” – fine lines drawn within the outline of the subject.
