Alan Joshua
Alan Joshua Jnr lives with his wife and two children at Ngukurr. He was born in 1965 and has developed his skill to paint by watching and learning from senior men. Alan’s painting life started with traditional colours and styles in 1996 and grew through realistic landscapes and various experientials to encompass bright contemporary colours and shapes in abstract styles. As Alan says “people enjoy colour”. Today his style is a mix of both traditional and contemporary art. His paintings reflect his love and understanding of country and aboriginal ways. Through his painting we learn about change, bush tucker, the animals and birds around us and how they link with his culture.
